Location: The Land of Enchantment

GR2The Traditions in Western Herbalism Conference is located near legendary Santa Fe in the American Southwest, and is appropriately infused with its rich history and special energy. Anyone who has ever been the Southwest – and to New Mexico in particular – can usually attest to the remarkable feelings they get from this evocative land. Visitors as well as lifelong residents are effected by the dramatic landscapes, unbelievable colors and distinct ambiance. By the still evident heritage of Celtic cowboys, Hispanic settlers, and the Hopi, Navajo, Apache, Pueblo and pre-Columbian Anasazi who were drawn to the area’s blessings and magic first. By the vast spaces, diverse ecosystems, mountain forests and desert secrets, the panoply of plant species and persistent bloom of wild and willful creatures. And by the immeasurable spirit that seems to seep to the surface here like waters of a thirst-sating spring, an almost overwhelming sensation of connection and purpose that elicited the rituals of the indigenous tribes, fed the devotion of arriving worshippers of every faith, attracted seekers from all over the world, and now stirs the hearts and souls of anyone open to its ministrations. Kiva and I welcome you not only to attend the TWH Conference, but to make time before or after to avail yourself of our region’s life altering gifts.

The Conference Site

GR3

The 2010 Traditions in Western Herbalism Conference will be held at the beautiful Ghost Ranch in rural Abiquiu, a place whose vast vistas and reddish earth, diverse cacti and suggestive flowers once inspired the artist Georgia O’Keefe, now a relaxed conference center nestled in the high desert, surrounded by intriguing wind-sculptured hills. Ghost Ranch is located 65 miles Northwest of Santa Fe (40 miles beyond Española) on U.S. 84., 130 miles N.W. of the recommended airport in Albuquerque.

Lodging

There are inexpensive hotel rooms available within 45 minutes of the Conference in Española, as well as a limited number of comfortable guest rooms and camping sites available on site at Ghost Ranch. You will need to make your own lodging arrangements and reservations in advance, in order to make sure that you have a room. See: www.ghostranch.org

There are several car rental agencies to be found in the Albuquerque airport terminal. Arrival

It’s suggested that you plan to be in the area the night before the conference. The Conference begins Friday morning at 10 am so most participants should plan to be checked in and have their rooms or campsites by 9 am Friday, but checkin will be ongoing throughout the Conference for latecomers.
